Richard Bowman is an acclaimed international ballet master, coach and répétiteur with dance organizations throughout the world. Richard Bowman was born and trained in Auckland, New Zealand. At 16 Richard Bowman was awarded a full-tuition scholarship to complete his training at the Royal Ballet School in London, England and is the recipient of the 1987 Sir John Logan Campbell Award – New Zealand’s highest ballet award.
Richard Bowman has performed with many world-renowned ballet companies as a guest and principal artist including The Royal New Zealand Ballet, Leipzig Ballet, Australian Ballet, and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. He has been noted throughout his career not only for his physique and technical brilliance, but also his ability to capture audiences with ease.
In 2012, Richard was appointed as a member of American Ballet Theatre’s National Training Curriculum Artistic Board of Examiners & Instructors. Shortly thereafter, he became a senior faculty member at ABT’s Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School in NYC. In 2015, Alexei Ratmansky appointed Richard Bowman Children’s Ballet Master for his reconstruction of ABT’s new Sleeping Beauty.
In addition to the Youth America Grand Prix, Richard Bowman also serves as a judge and master teacher for many other international ballet competitions.
