Carey Hemsley has developed an eclectic range of skills encompassing ballet, pilates (mat and equipment), dance injury, anatomy and physiology, biomechanics, injury rehabilitation and dancer-centric strengthening and conditioning.

Originally, a trained professional dancer, Carey performed in various classical and neo-classical ballets in the U.K, Canada and Bermuda.  She graduated from the Royal Academy of Dance, London, in Dance Education and is an Associate of the Academy.  She is a highly experienced ballet teacher and has taught, directed and choreographed in the U.K, Canada and Bermuda.

Whilst living in Bermuda, Carey broadened her skills base by certifying with the PhysicalMind Institute, New York, in ‘Classical Pilates’ (mat, standing and apparatus).  Since then, she has expanded her expertise by training in ‘Contemporary Pilates’ with Stott Reformer Certification.

For the last 9 years, Carey taught and mentored students at the renowned Musical Theatre Academy, Italia Conti, London.  She taught on both the Musical Theatre and Professional Dancers 3-year diploma courses, teaching vocational students Ballet, Pilates and Anatomy.  Her successful track record in diagnosing injury, muscular imbalance and postural misalignment culminated with the Academy appointing her a dedicated, diagnostic clinic for supporting full-time vocational students.  Carey was also tasked with designing, implementing and teaching a new ‘Dance Injury’ module for the 3-year Professional Dancers course.

A fervent believer in life-long learning, Carey took an academic sabbatical to graduate from Trinity Laban Conservatoire, London, with an MSc in Dance Science.  This enabled her to further develop and hone the fusion between dance, movement, physiology and biomechanics.
